An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Design Manager to join a leading international design and engineering consultancy, supporting the delivery of complex, high-profile Data Centre and Mission Critical projects.

Location: Frankfurt, Germany

Salary: €80,000 – €100,000 (dependent on experience)

Our client is a globally recognised multidisciplinary design and engineering consultancy with an established reputation for delivering technically complex projects across Europe. Their expertise spans Data Centres, Mission Critical facilities, commercial developments, healthcare, life sciences and other highly regulated environments.

With a growing portfolio of Data Centre projects across Germany and an expanding client base, they are seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to strengthen their Frankfurt team.

The Opportunity:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced design professional to take ownership of the design management process on major Data Centre developments.

Working closely with clients, consultants and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will be responsible for coordinating the design process from concept through to construction, ensuring projects are delivered on programme, within budget and to the highest technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate the design management process across multiple Data Centre and Mission Critical projects.
  • Develop and maintain design programmes, ensuring key milestones and deliverables are achieved.
  • Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams, consultants and external stakeholders throughout all design stages.
  • Review technical designs and challenge proposed solutions to drive innovation, quality and value engineering.
  • Coordinate design reviews, workshops and technical meetings with both internal teams and clients.
  • Monitor project budgets, resources and design deliverables to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, client requirements and industry best practice.
  • Support business development activities by presenting technical solutions and design strategies to prospective and existing clients.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued development of the wider design team.

Job Requirement

Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Minimum of five years' experience managing multidisciplinary design projects within a consultancy environment.
  • Previous experience delivering Data Centre, Mission Critical or other technically complex infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of design management methodologies, project delivery and construction processes.
  • Experience using collaborative digital design platforms and BIM-based workflows.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and project teams.
  • Fluent English is essential. German language skills are desirable; Dutch language skills would also be considered advantageous.
