Job Description

National Rail Contracts Manager

Location: Birmingham

Working arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in office / 2 days WFH)

Salary: £68,000 – £73,000 + Travel + benefits

We’re working in partnership with a major UK rail organisation who is looking for a Contracts Manager to manage the National Rail Contract (NRC). This position sits at the centre of government relations, regulatory compliance, and contract management, helping ensure the organisation meets its obligations while building strong relationships with key stakeholders across the rail industry.

This is an important role where you’ll work closely with government bodies and regulators. You’ll help shape how the organisation works with national rail policy and ensure commitments are delivered effectively across the network.

What you’ll be doing
  • Leading on compliance with the National Rail Contract (NRC) and other regulatory requirements
  • Acting as the main contact for government and regulatory stakeholders, including the Department for Transport and related bodies
  • Tracking and managing contractual and regulatory commitments across the organisation
  • Making sure all obligations are delivered on time and in line with governance standards
  • Supporting contract mobilisation and demobilisation activity to ensure smooth transitions
  • Providing updates and insights to senior leaders on performance and delivery

This role is a hybrid position, working 3 days a week in the office and 2 days a week from home. Managing a small team this is the perfect step to move up from a Principal in to a manager, being the subject matter expert around the NRC, and developing your team accordingly.
